We use a rag on the cowl and a claw hammer, the nail pulling end and if it still won't come off we turn the hammer around and vent some frustrations.

Removing wipers?
What is the trick to remove the wiper arms?
|
At the base of the arm, there is a clip you need to press in to slide it off the shaft.
|
Do you lift up the arm first, then press toward the cowl?

Wipers
Haven't done it in a while, but I used to just depress the clip, then get a rag, fold it over several times and place it underneath the wiper. Get a screwdriver and lever it between cowl (on rag pad of course) and gently pry upward and wiper assembly should come right off.

What Kw said should work just fine. Sometimes you have to move the screwdriver around a bit and pry from different places.

I have a tool that I bought from NAPA that is for removing wiper arms. It goes beneath the arm, at the cowl, and you squeeze the handles together to lift it off. Seems like it's a K-D tool......in case the other ideas don't work for you.

a hammer works , but I've found a small flat Pry bar, like a finishing carpenter would use works great.. specially if you slip, less chance of smashing your glass. it's about a 90 degree angle, and easier to control than a claw hammer
