Horn button help
I installed a steering wheel from an 88-94 truck, I need the horn button kit. Anyone have or know where I can get it?

:burnout: Here you go, it's in the F.A.Q.

Thanks Longhorn! Exactly why this site rocks!!!! I keep forgetting that the search engine is working again...

Longhorn - I just finished reading your article. Excellent info but I'm still in the same boat - I purchased my new wheel off ebay, I thought it included the donor slip ring but didin't so I need a slip ring and the small wire that attaches to the horn button. The new wheel is identical to the one in your first photo. The wrecking yards (that I've found) around where I live don't want to mess with ya for small stuff and they don't allow you to pull your own. I'm new to the area so I'm still searching for more yards.

Yeah, you need to find the other junk yards. i've been in the same boat before, and it really blows.
You need to use the slip ring that is original to your column. If you use the late model one then your steering shaft will not be supported properly becouse the bearing rides on the slip ring on the stock truck set up. As for the horn wire. You can install the wheel and slip ring now, and when you get your hands on a horn wire, you can pop off the horn cap and install the assembly into the slip ring. Needle nose pliers help on this, but it can be done by hand onless you have chubby fingers. |
