Another water leak!!!
Well after much work and redoing the interior my carpet is still getting wet. Finally got in there and had the wife pour water on the cowl area. Water is coming in around the joint between the floorpan and the kickpanel about halfway up the floorpan by the vent flap.. Looks like there is a seam there and I imagine the caulk/sealant has dried out.
Is this a normal leakage area? Best cure? Remove fenders and seal from the outside? |
Grind out the old seam sealer from the inside, put some OSPHO a rust preventor use some eastwood rust encapsulator and the apply the new seam sealer , by sure to wire brush the whole seam before you start applying any of these products. You can't get at the seam well enough from the outside to do what you need to do- you have to go from the inside. Harold

Yes alot of them start rusting here on both sides, I would do both sides if I were u.

OK, Thanks guys, I'll get on it this weekend. What should I use for sealant? I am somewhat limited being in Italy! I have some 3m strip caulk, some drip chek, and black silicone, and some butyl stuff for glass sealing. What should I use?

Yeah, I'm just too lazy to go looking for it!!!!
