Factory Speaker
I am currently going to put in a kenwood tape player just so I have tunes and I was going to use a factory speaker - 10 ohms. Is this OK? Will the speaker work ok and the radio play fine?
The kenwood is just temporary until I get the factory radio working. Thanx, |
Yeah it'll work,be careful, and not blow the cone out of hte speaker with that deck,it's prolly got more punch than an AM radio
|
Yeah, it will work, but it is only one speaker.
There are speaker pairs that fit into the stock center opening. A much better option is if you can fabricate a plywood piece that will hold (2) speakers. That's what I've done to my 71. The first incarnation used (2) 4" Pioneer speakers that I had left over from another project. After 4 or 5 years I replaced those 4" speakers to use in another project and replaced the 4" in the truck with a pair of 4" x6" JBL coaxial speakers. The 4"x6" should fit in the opening if the speakers are orientated so that the long side runs front to rear and not side to side. |

i did this as a temporary setup and that was 2 years ago. also got 2 6x9s under the seat

Thanx for the ideas and the pictures!!! I did see in a magazine the replacement that had 2 speakers to fit under the dash. I just didn't know what I wanted to do yet.
Thanx again. |
These truck speakers are pretty good, and small enough to shove under the seat,if you want to go that way.

I purchased a pair of kick panel speakers for my 69..haven't got to the point of instalation yet, but did a dry fit...vents appears to still be functional.

Under the seat ROCKS!
I have a set under my seat and it sounds great. The cab is like an echo chamber, concert hall. Rocks out the mp3's with great clarity. :metal:
