Wanted:4x4 shifter mounting bolt for np205

I need the bolt that holds the transfer case shifter on the NP205 for my 72. I believe these may have a grease fitting on the end and probably any year NP205 case bolt would work. Anybody out there got one they could do without?

Leave it to GM to mess things up. The shift handles (205) seem to be the same, but I have seen at least two different style/size bolts.
The first has a large shoulder the size of the hole. The second is smaller and uses the bushing/spacer shown here to take up the space between the bolt and shifter hole. So, if you get the smaller bolt, you have to also have the spacer assembly.

I have never seen a bolt with a zerk fitting in it. The bolt shown in Frank's pic
has a 9/16" thread and I believe the other setup has a 1/2" thread.

The larger bolt pictured has a generous grease groove and it seems that the later trucks came with them (71 late and 72). Check the threads in your transfer case so that you know which bolt to get.

When I swapped from a 3-speed manual to a th350 the new adapter - where this bolt mounts - had a different sized hole. I went back to the dealer and bought a new bolt. It has the big gap like the picture above for grease and a zerk that screwed into the head of the bolt.

Thanks for the info. I'll check the bolt hole size and try the local Chevrolet dealership.
