Exhaust tips alter sound?

would a set of these exhaust tips sound different then the same exhaust with just round slash cut tips? i think these exhaust tips are pretty bad.

thats the kind of exhaust that should come out from under a bumper, not a set of round pipes...

They probably wont have as deep a rumble as a set of 3 1/2" round "cans", but should sound nice. I heard a set on a 55 poncho, with side exit exhaust, & it had a really nice sound for a fairly mild 350..... crazyL
