Best way to buy front end parts?
 

Whats the best way to buy all of my front end parts(ball joints, etc.)? I was thinkin about one of those complete rebuild kits from LMC or Chevy Duty, anyone have any experiences with these?

I used to use PST kits, but lately, I buy all my Moog stuff locally or from Summit.

I bought my kit from Classic Performance Parts www.classiperform.com (back before I found this board). Check the list of board vendors on the home page http://207.44.196.117/ and see if they aren't cheaper. Everything I've read about LMC is that they are more expensive than most (although I have never dealt with them).

i purchased the lmc kit. it's true that it's mostly non us made parts but the quality seems good and the kit was well packed. it wasn't a bad deal in my opinion.

When I was rebuilding my front end, I couldn't find a vendor that sold Moog parts. Went to my local mom & pop parts store, they had everything in stock except the control arm shafts, which they picked up from the jobber that afternoon.

This is one area where I refused to use the made in Taiwan, China, Afghanastan or lower Slobovia parts. Too much to go wrong with parts of unknown heat treat. Even if it is warrantied for life, having to replace them even once isn't worth it.

I bought the kit from Early Classic Enterprises about 3 yrs ago. All Moog parts.

If you don't have a local parts supplier that carries MOOG...just order them from Summit Racing...the should have everything in stock..maybe not ctrl arm shafts but if you complain enough they will have them shipped to your door directly from MOOG (that's what they did for me)

And they had the best prices on the stuff...free shipping and the $9 handling fee...isn't that bad considering the box was 50lbs with all ball joints, tie rods, idler, pitman, and lower shafts

the other good thing is that you can mix and match this way...IE. if you are using 73+ spindles on your ctrl arms you can buy the arms for your year and the ball joints and steering stuff for 73+ and not have to worry about it...with a kit you might be stuck with all 1970 stuff or whatever...just an observation (and the reason I ordered from Summit)
