Dash removal

Im trying to pull out the dash on my 72 and its arguing with me. I have everything unhooked and all 6 bolts out but it seems to be caught right at the windshield and it looks like there is a bead of silicone there? Thanks for the help.

It's spotwelded to the bottom of the windsheild lip, you'd have to pull the windshield and drill/cut out the spotwelds to get the whole assembly out.

It is spot welded along the bottom edge of the windshield opening. You can remove the windshield and drill out the spot welds or leave the upper portion of the dash intact and cut the lower section off by cutting accross the area under the dash pad. After welding it back together and replacing the pad the seam is hidden.

It may also be spot welded on the sides where it bolts in, if it is, good luck, you will need it.

To get the windshield out, from inside the cab with a utility knife, cut the seal away from the metal flange. With that cut, you will be able to push the window out. Means you need a new seal thou...
