'71 Cheyenne or CST???
Hi,
I looked at a 71 SWB Cheyenne (so I thought) today. It had the Cheyenne paint scheme - but when I checked the option list in the glovebox - no mention of Cheyenne. I did find the Custom Sport Truck package option - the number was 1Z84CH. Not sure what that all included. Does it make it a 71 CST or a 71 Cheyenne?? Lots of options, but came with a 350 and 3 on the tree. Disk brakes (no booster) and air. Anyhow - I am interested in buying this truck and would appreciate any help from the board on the identification. Thanks! |
71-72 was a CST not...Cheyenne's were 71-72

Thanks for the reply.
Shouldn't the option package say Cheyenne? I know the Cheyenne pkg replaced the CST that year, perhaps it was an early model 71. Sounds legit though/ |
I hope this answers your question?

My 71 is a CST, not a Cheyenne.

Trucks usually had the option number Z84 in 71 if it was a Cheyenne. It may or may not be listed as Custom Sport truck on the glove box sticker. It could also be listed as Cheyenne Equipped and still have the option number Z84. And have Cheyenne emblems on the fender.
YE9 was the option number for the Cheyenne Super or Sierra Grande. Still I have seen GMC trucks with the YE9 option number and Cheyenne Super listed in the glove box of a GMC. A Chev should have the Cheyenne and the Super emblem on the fender. A GMC would have the Sierra Grande Emblem Script on the rear of the box... if it was ordered with a Pickup Box. Blazers may have the option of Z84 on the glove box, the glove box labelled as Cheyenne Equipped and have CST door emblem. ------------------ Senior active member of the best truck message board on the net. 71 1/2 ton Suburban 4x4, 350/350 72 1ton tow truck 402BB w/Holmes 440 wrecker / on propane 85 FXSB Harley Lowrider 72 Triumph 650 Bonneville 5spd |
blazers were like that, they listed Z84 Cheyenne Equip on glovebox door and a small chrome CST emblem at top of doors
