suburban rear air swap?

a friend of mine was wondering if you could put the rear air unit out of a 72 in a 67-72 suburban without the rear unit. of course it has the factory front air. could you just run the lines back like the factory rear ones and just change the dash cluster with the rear a/c switch? any light would really help. thanks. :flag:

I am sure that it could be done. It would take some time and work. I would suggest getting the assembly manual before undertaking the project because it has very good information in it on the hose routing, unit mounting and wiring.

There are better hoses available now and your friend will probably want to plan on new ones since the old ones will leak when used with the new freons.

Check the donor burb's roof air brackets for captive nut locations in the roof rails and then check the recipient burb's roof rails for the same captive nuts. That would be the only crucial difference, IMO. You can prolly cut each hose pass-thru not already present, but you can't easily insert captive nuts in OEM roof rail locations.
