price check 85 gmc

Hey folks,

I'm looking at a daily driver. It's needs to get me by for a couple of years then I might be looking for a Pre 72 again.

85 GMC 1500 4x4 newly painted looks like nice orig grey steel wheels and hubcaps. Spare is mounted in the bed?? Body is real solid only bondo I found is on the tailgate from a nasty dent.

Interior is OK, good seat but the door panels are worn. No power options. Auto with overdrive and aftermarket trans cooler. Engine is rebuilt 305(yuck).

Underneath is extreamly clean no patches no drips or leaks. He's running headers. I didn't look at the engine yet. Front end looks tight and takencare of. Auto locking hubs and the trany is 2H 4H N 4L? 10bolt rear.

I'm looking for a truck for some spring projects. Wifey say's I'm rushing (I've done this in the past!!!!) I'm trying to stay pre '86 to avoid some emmission and computer issues. Also cheaper and easier to work on. I've had a '94FS blazer and not much to really do there.

Best case if I enjoy this truck I can alway's swap in a 350 if needed.

How are the 700r's these years anything to look for???

The lot is asking $2500 I might be able to get it down a couple bucks but not much. Ya really don't find clean rust free rigs in the north east. I don't want to get another $1500 fixer upper.

Thoughts???

I'm pretty close to you. Today I saw a pre-73 bluish-green pickup 4x4 in an auction lot, on 903. I can get the particulars if you want. Also know of (2) mid 80's 4x4 suburbans for sale, under $900. I haven't seen them personally but can pm you the ads, if you want. I met with one of the owners for some car body panels and forget to look over the suburban.

Thanks Badone07,

Way to tempting. I just passed on a 72 big block real sweet. No, the wifey doesn't want a project vehicle. "We're" looking for something reliable drivable and clean. I figure the chances of a clean 73-86 is my best shot. She's pushing for +92's so once a year she can make a run to the lowe's for a tree.

After the dust settles from my last good deal I will post a wanted add but, if something should come along??

I'd even go for a 2wd shorty

thanks
