mud holes in VA?

I may have posted this before, but I'm wondering if anyone knows of any mud holes in VA? I know there is a 4x4 park in Fredericksburg, but does anyone know if the charge to ride and if they have any rules? Or anywhere else? my blazer is tired of always being on the street

If you would be up for a trip, you could go to Wellsville, Oh (right on the WV border). 2400 acres of woods, trails, and crazy shiat. It costs $10 per day at the Sportsmens Club I went to, I think thats how much it costs pretty much anywhere. I went with 3 other CK5 members, we had a great time. The Blazer I went in rides on 1 ton axles, 44" tsl's, locked front and rear, it had no problem with the trails, but we even had a stock TJ Jeep go with us that just had small tsl's, it did fine.

I haven't been there in a decade now (wow, getting old), but there were some fun areas just south of VA Beach... Pungo Airfield and Back Bay.

back bay is closed to vehicles now...i thought it was in fredericksburg...i'll have to look for it again. Ohio sounds fun but thats a pretty long drive...

All good things must end :( I guess too many drunk Navy guys like me ruined it for everyone :D There might be a Back Bay in Fredericksburg, but the one we used to terrorize was on the VA?NC border along the innercoastal waterway.

We do have a few mud bogs through the year here, but that's all I know of...

Probably a little far but you can get on the beach in Corolla NC or Oregon Inlet. You could go little further south and get on the beach in Waves, Salvo, or all the way in Hatteras. I know some places here in Chesapeake, but you have to go at night if you know what I mean.

i've been out in oregon inlet...i'd like to go to corolla...can't you get out in the dunes and stuff there?

JIMs70GMC 12-01-2004 07:43 AM

Technically, I don't think you are aloud on the dunes period. But, in Corolla the further north you go the less people. It will take you all the way back to the VA line.
My experience the real soft sand is down in waves and salvo which is about 25 miles south of Oregon Inlet.

not cool. using such places just makes the honest wheelers out there look bad.

Jeremy, I know, I drive by the spot every now and then and you can see the mud all over the road where people have come out of brush, it's kinda like a country road, not much around. I do my driving on the beach.
