TPI Conversion Guys Out There......Question.

Can anybody tell me what I need to keep out of a factory 87 IROC harness to make the engine in my 68 work??
I'm in the process of pulling the motor/trans out of the car and there are a ton"o"wires!! What can I eliminate??
Thanks in advance!!

I would recommend not eliminating anything until you get the whole thing out.
After that you can eliminate the wipers, and air conditioning. You can eliminate the following if you aren't using them: electric fans, EGR, charcoal canister, and AIR pump.
I am sure I am forgetting a few things too.

yeah make sure and pull it all, dist, wires, complete harness, ecm under pass side dash, air intake duct prior to engine. make sure and get all sensors too and i would even snag the press regulator and fuel pump. it stinks missing anything and hunting it down.

its not hard to get all of the wireing out (I would know, I have pulled 2, and taken a 3rd one partway apart) just start at the computer, and follow it around to the bulkhead connector on the other side. :)

So I don't need the EGR or Charcoal canister???

I parted a 99 Camaro( LS-1 Automatic) and was totally amazed at the amount of wiring that was in that car. I cut no wires and carefully removed everything from the taillights to the headlights. I even left everything just as it was connected at the factory. If a sheetmetal panel was in the way, I cut it or split it just to keep the entire harness intact. This was complete overkill and a major pain. Most of the wiring was not needed for a conversion and was later tossed. The pile of wiring was actually taller than the engine when it was piled next to it.

Anybody try using the electric fans and rad from the camaro also??

I am not using the charcoal canister or EGR on mine. I did have the chip reburned to compensate for the EGR removal.

Are you using a speed density system or mass air?? I'm using the mass air(87 IROC)
Can tou tell me what I need to keep??
Thanks.

I am using Mass Air.
I elminated everything I listed in my first post. I had a 305 TPI so I ditched the 19lb injectors and got larger ones.
