Wishy Washy...Now I know...
After trying to sell my 68 off and on for the last six months, I have decided to keep the 68 and........GUT IT! Since the two wheel drive Blazer frame will be here Saturday, I have decided to "gut" all the goodies from my truck and apply them to the Blazer. I will then put a carb engine in the 68, repaint it a sellable color and sell it. I will be removing the LT1/4L60, Vintage Air, air ride, dash cluster and gauges, stereo and wheels. I figure it this way, I am just going to have to go out and buy all the above items again for the Blazer anyway. This may be the best decision I have made in a while. Later, Mark

Good luck Mark, and the projects go on...and on...and on...and on...and on...:D
|
wow..big decision tearing apart a nice truck like that. i hope it all works out like you want it.
|
My problem is that I should have never painted it Peach. If it was ANY other NORMAL color, it would have been gone a long time ago and for the money that it is worth. I figured at least this way, when I get tired of the Blazer, I KNOW I can get a fair selling price for it. Later, Mark

There's a reason it is called "re-sale red". Pick something out of the ordinary and be prepared to live with it a long time or plan to give a big deduction to the next buyer because he needs to paint it something more livable.

Re-sale red it is!!
|
How hard would it be to take the 4x4 stuff off the blazer and put it on the 68? May be cool, just an idea.

Wouldn't be too bad. Maybe I'll just sell the 4WD chassis and the truck at the same time. Later, Mark

Mark out of curiousity ,after you strip it what would you want for the 68 w/o carbed engine and repaint......
Rowdy. |
Well, it WILL have 17" wheels with ne tires, and a stock mildly dropped suspension, no engine, no tranny, 3:73 gear rear, disc brakes, bedcover, stock guages, relocated fuel cell, and the interior as is now, probably, $6000. That will be a start. Later, Mark

would you sell your bed cover by any chance? and be willing to ship it(depending on cost)?

Mark, sent you another PM.

I don't know why it's wrong, I just know it's wrong. :D |
longnlow72, I have my old cover for a SWB FLeetside, do you have a longbed??
4x4Poet, My original intent was to paint the truck Corvette competition yellow like my 68 Camaro I built years ago BUT I noticed that every vehicle manufacturer out there jumped on the yellow bandwagon. The Peach decision was a spur of the moment decision. I still like the color, just not a good color for a quick sale. And yes, a peach 4x4 would be :barf: ! Later, FCG |
Its a shame that your going to tear apart such a great truck. Minus the color you did a GREAT job on it. If your planning to repaint it anyway you might be better off painting it first and then trying to resell it before tearing it apart. IMO there are just too many good things about that truck to see it dismantled.
|
I personally like the peach.
|
yes i have a longbed, i forgot yours was a short
|
FCG, you didnt have so much fun making that tonneau cover that you would want to make another for a long bed? :D ;)
|
i don`t think the peach looks bad either.
