How does the reply thing go with craigslist? I tried to send an e-mail to the address listed and it didn't seem to work. Also I have gotten about 5 spams since I tried - is that the price you pay for using craigslist?

Blue Beard 12-17-2004 08:04 AM

Don't know what's happening, I've had good luck using the list.

Here's a different site for the same blazer...

http://pdxforsale.com/?ad=116117

Just dropped him an email from this site to see if he'll give a phone number for you.

kevinr1970 12-17-2004 03:41 PM

So how do you reply to those adds? I don't see any thing related to replying? Thanks for any help!!

Blue Beard 12-17-2004 07:41 PM

On Craigs List you use the email contact at the top of the posting..

On pdxforsale you need to copy and paste the email address to your email system.

I've tried to contact him for you but have no reply yet. Will keep trying.

Says it's the last time he will post it, but if he doesn't answer email he can't sell her.

Keep you up to date if I hear from him.

kevinr1970 12-17-2004 09:00 PM

He sent me somthing. Said hes waiting for a guy says he'll be there no later than 4:30. I sent him my # and told him to call me with info.
We'll see........

Blue Beard 12-17-2004 10:07 PM

He sent me the following....which I took as rather rude (with a return email of u wish):

"Sorry have had a ton of people trying to get to this but have yet to have but one show up he wants it but like everyone else needs to wait a few days for money to come through that would be a long trip if your not sure ? like I said alot of intrest first with the cash unless you know you want it and Ive just relisted it with a 50 percent paypal hold option so at least I know there serious thanks... appreciate the email"

kevinr1970 12-18-2004 01:02 AM

I never heard anything back from him so I guess he sold it? If not, he'd better make some sort of contact before I get too involved in something else tommorow...
And he never answered any of my questions?

bagged74 12-18-2004 11:04 AM

he never replied to me either, from the reply he sent you he seems like an a$$.

Blue Beard 12-18-2004 12:28 PM

Did seem alittle off base....doesn't sound like he want's to see very bad if he treats prospective buyers like that...

kevinr1970 12-18-2004 12:28 PM

He replied to me this morning. Said "guy never showed, its mine, come and get it."
But I still haven't been given any details on the rig yet and don't know if I want it??????
I callled the # he gave me and he didn't answer and hasn't called back yet......

Blue Beard 12-18-2004 12:39 PM

Care to share the number, I'll try as well.

Maybe between the two of us we can get you a deal on her.

He hasn't responded to my email since yesterday.

Well....... let me talk to the guy first. I'll give him the $700 (w/out wheels) if the truck doesn't have any rust and it is what he says it is. But he hasn't told me anything yet and the non-punctuated emails and four pictures don't tell me what I need to know.
If its rusty I'm not interested at all?

kevinr1970 12-19-2004 03:11 AM

So I went down and bought it.
I'll get more details later as I am pretty tired. 3 hours 45min diving each way and about 2 hours trying to get the thing on to my trailer.
And as things always happen in these types af situations, pretty much destroyed the roll pan putting it on the trailer??? It is one of those LED set-ups. The red lense(?) didn't get broken and I think the LED part is fine, but the roll pan took a pretty good shot. It might be welded in, but maybe they just filled the seems????
Kinda good thing is that there is a brand new rollpan in the back, but not for the LED set up.

Pros:
- New floor carpet, new door carpet not even installed yet and the ones on the truck were new not so long ago (wonder why he bought new ones?), brand new dash pad (!!!), rear side panels are either new or recovered, new roll pan never been mounted, I think new fender trim, looked like new rockers, extra tilt column with keys, some other new or newer parts, I haven't went through everything yet. There is even some 70's grills and headlight bezels back there as he was talking about making a custom grill using a couple of older grills?
Drivetrain - newer dual exhaust with Flowmasters, drop spindles front and the front end parts look pretty good, rear flip kit, "new" tires (he said less than 50 miles, but I question that -they were pretty good though), new balanced driveshaft for turbo 400 (had BBC), he said something about the rear end but I can't remember. Said he had put "well over $2000 into the truck" not including BBC and tranny. Has tilt column out of I'm guessing 90-91.

Cons:
- red seats out of a Yukon just resting in the truck (they are power though), tan leather rear seat out of a different Yukon (not sure if its attached or just sitting in the back), set of 15" Cragar S/S 5-spokes (this might be a pro to the right person), he said all the body work had been done but the driver side lower rear needs to be replaced.

I guess that IS all the details so it'll just be pictures later....

Blue Beard 12-19-2004 08:21 AM

Too bad he hadn't listed all that in his listing. He would have sold it sooner.

Sorry to hear about the damage getting it on the trailer.

Did you go the full nickel on his price or the lower side. Sounds like you got a good deal.

What shape are the cragers in, might be interested in them?

I was willing to give the asking price for the truck minus wheels. It became apparent that not having the wheels was going to be an issue for me though so we talked and I got them for another $50. So I guess depending on how you look at it, I got it for $250 less than he was asking? I don't really care for the rims, but for $50 the tires were well worth it.
And it turns out the guy was a pretty decent guy, just a little frustrated from all the no-shows and such. For a computer geek (he fixes them for a living), his typing skills were pretty horendous. He took the engine/tranny and is putting them in a '67 SWB.

Oh, I was looking through that craigslist just looking around and a guy here in Monroe (where I am storing this truck and another) had a set of 15 x 8 2wd rallyes powder coated red with real nice trim rings, nice centers (look like at least new emblem or decals or whatever they are) and a 5th black rim that looks like it could be an OEM rim. So I bought those to go on one of these 2wd Blazers - the one I already had is red/red and this new one is primer(was red)/red.

I'll get into this a little more later but the guys property where I'm storing the trucks is real big into Buicks and has around a dozen of them on his property, but I was supirsed by all of the chev truck stuff he has:
- parting an 86 or 87 3/4T 4x4 Suburban
- getting ready to sell a late 70's camper special 3/4T that is rust free and looks like a pretty nice rig if you like green
- a 61-63 short stepside that looks like someone put a bunch of work into including new front end off of a newer truck (didn't know exactly) with 5 lug, disc brakes and all new suspension, a PERFECT bed with out any wood but real nice sheet metal and the cab looked like someone had done some metal work to it.
- a 49 large flatbed for parts
He asked me if I would post something for sale for these and I will in the next few days

kevinr1970 12-20-2004 12:51 AM

Oh and the rims I'd almost give you if you wanted them.

Blue Beard 12-20-2004 09:06 AM

Sounds like you did okay then...

kevinr1970 12-20-2004 05:35 PM

I was talking to the guy at work that let me borrow his trailer today.
When our company moved from Kirkland to Mukilteo last February we had this surplus 3000(?) series GMC flatbed. I'm not sure but I think it was rated at at least 2 tons, had 2spd rear-end.
So this guy ended up buying this monster of a truck for $1 from the company. 1 freakin' $!!!
It had a lot of transmission troubles and they just wanted to get it out of the previous property before the end of the lease so he scooped it up. The good part was that he was told it was a brand new crate 454 when we bought it so it has less than 10,000 on it now. He bought a new manifold for it and it didn't fit, it wasn't wide enough (tall-deck or something). He checked the #'s and turns out it was a crate 427.

The good news for me? I told him the Blazer is set-up for a BBC and he told me that since the 427 won't fit in his 47 Studebaker truck, he'd give it to me for what he is in it for - the couple hundred $ for towing it to his house!!!

The bad part? My girlfriends dad has a '65 Buick 401 Nailhead and T400 (switch-pitch) in his garage that he built to put in a '50 ford. He built the engine and tranny as "keepers" so everything was brand new and done right. He sold the ford and his current Ranch Wagon project is getting ford HO 5.0 w/AOD. I think I could smooze my way into this 401/400 for dirt cheap if not free.

Some one just kill me now!!!!!!!!!!!!

Blue Beard 12-21-2004 07:57 AM

Sounds like you are having a good week locating projects and parts....
