Best place for trim to fit plug wires?

Sup folks,

I'm finally ready to replace the very old plug wires on my 68. I want to get the trim to fit wires and set them up like some of you have it, with the retainers that run along the edge of the valve covers. Could you point me to the best place to get a set up like this? :metal: :burnout:

The Summit Brand ones are pretty nice for the money. I think MSD makes them. Check the Made-For-You wire looms too: http://www.made4uproducts.com/wire_looms.htm

Thanks very much Poff, too many kinds of looms out there. Decisions decisions. :D

Now what about the trim to fit wires? Where should I get them? I'd like 8mm, HEI, 90* boots.

I bought a roll of plug wire, boots, and terminals from my local auto shop and made my own.

I ordered mine from Summitracing.com. They are 8mm, cut to fit and come with HEI and conventional ends. They come in straight ir 90 degree sparkplug boots. The only bummer for some people is that they only come in Blue. You probably want the spiral wound cores not the solid cores.

K thanks very much. :D

I bought accel wires from jegs and they were reasonable.

I picked up a set of accel 8mm trim to fit wires at autozone today. 40 bucks give or take.
God what a efin pita. Think I'll just take the loss on them and go get a set of regular wires.

trim to fit takes some time and paitance, i didnt do them when i put my v-8 in cause i had so many other things to worry about, maybe next time

taylor, msd or moroso wires. stay away from accels they are notorious for arcing out through the wire and giving you a nice light show at night especially if its wet out.there caps and rotors are awesome but accel wires suck if you want your vehicle to run how it should

I second that the accel 8mm are total junk. I put a set on my dads truck and they lasted like 2 years max it started stumbling at higher RPMs. We put a new set of Taylor's on it and the problem was fixed.. I would say you best to get taylor, msd or moroso wires.

Autozone had the msd wires at twice the price of the accel. Now I'm glad I opted for the cheaper set since they will just be trashed. I

know I'm ill equipped tool wise, no vice for the die set that came with the wires and I don't have the correct crimpers either, but apparently I'm short on patience and knowledge as well, because these trim to fit wires are just beyond me.
