Did you replace the clutches in the posi unit?

Did you add the GM posi-lube..you need that too.

special70gmc 12-22-2004 11:24 PM

its a brand new unit, and no i didnt add the lube ill get a bottle of that, is there any other reason it would be so lame at locking? is it cuz of the motor? im makin bout 400hp 425 ft lbs i hope i didnt do any damage with out the lube

My understanding on the lube is it helps it slip going around the corners. It would not make it engage in a straight line any better.

The addative only makes it slip around the corners if you dont have it in it should feel like it is grabing going around a turn even squeal a little.

try the lube first. Go get a bottle of GM friction modifier from the dealer. It's the only stuff worth beans. Should cost about 7 bucks. I've had that stuff work wonders on clutch type posi units.

If you are making the kind of power you think you are, don't expect that unit to last long anyway.

That's odd, it should never be locked in a turn, unless your spinning, because technically one wheel is rotating slightly faster than the other in a turn, and if both tires were locked you would hear chirping becuase of something called "wheel hop" It's also the same reason you aren't supposed to drive on pavement with 4x4 units that "lock" it creates this wheel hop and causes damage to the tires and axle. It should be slipping in the corners and gripping when you slam it on a straight away. I'd try the juice, if it don't work, maybe you have a defective unit??? jmho
