Anyone selling a 327?
 

anyone selling a 327? I want one that needs to be rebuit. I am tired of messing with this crappy a$$ 350. I want the orignal 327 back. I am willing to trade a 350 for it or buy either way.

too bad your on the other side of the country i have a 327 block and crank - althought it is the early one (small journal with the canister in the lifter valley)

A friend of mine is planning on swaping the 327 in his Impalla for a 402, I'll ask him if he wants to sell the 327.

Why not find a cheap (if not free) 307 and use the crank in your 350 to make a 327? If you get a SJ I have a set of MT aluminum rods I will sell cheap....

I have a 68 Chev PU 327 that is complete, less brackets & pulleys, for $200. MUST be picked up.

sweet I see a few guys are selling them none near me though. I live in Oroville CA, bout 50 miles north of sacremento. Driving to sandeigo for the motor is to far. Would cost me $1000 or more for the trip. Anyone esle ?

here's some advice-


for shipping an engine:

call 1-800-363-9621 ...(highway freight).there nice people to deal with, and the cheapest rates i've ever seen....get a quote...you'll need the destination zip code, and your's as well....tell them it will be shrink wrapped, and banded to a pallet...you'll have to also estimate weight...and remember, its always cheaper to ship it terminal to terminal....they'll be able to tell you your closest terminal

now that you've got an idea what it costs....and you can afford it (its never cost me anymore than $150 anywhere)

you'll need to find a wooden pallet...either buy one at a lumber yard, or find one laying out somewhere....

lay the motor on the pallet, usually upside down for stability (drain the oil first)

find someone that can "band it"...thats special metal bands that require a special tool to tighten them up..use at least 3 bands, with at leats two clips on each band for stability..(most lumber yards will do this for a minimal charge, or free)

and dont forget to ship an engine, you must completely wrap it up in shrink wrap (about $2 for a roll at wal mart)

and , always drain the motor of oil....you paying for shipping costs of the estimated weight....so the lighter the better

my vote is to get a 307 crank and put it in your 350.
same thing as a 327 - you should be able to find a 307 crank in a junk car or truck...mid to late 70's???

yes but then the block numbers will read as a 350. I want her as original as possible. I plan to park her and start restoring her. and motor being the 1st major part I need. Thanks for the shipping info :metal:

I have a large journal 327 crank and rods I would sell you. I had the block at one time I will just have to go through my stuff and find it. Crank needs turned but I work in a machine shop and could do it for you.
