WTB 68-72 LWB in Western Canada or the US NW

Looking for a super clean and solid 68-72 LWB in Western Canada or in the North Western US. I need a clean rust free body at the minimum and a complete running truck is even better. No junk, half a$$ed restorations or rust buckets as I have all the work I can handle on the project trucks I have now. My only driving truck was recently thrashed in an accident. I need a truck soon!

HeavyD 01-14-2005 06:49 PM

Geez, Thats bad news Ray. Hope you find a good one on here. If you don't find something nearby, maybe your next holiday plans will indude Arizona, Nevada, or California? I think I am going to head down there within the next month or 2.

CARS4567 (Seattle) has a couple of long fleets (reasonably priced) that are in good running condition that he is looking to sell.

i figured that truck was long gone by now

gr8scott51 01-15-2005 11:32 AM

Nobody wants to cross the sound and he hasn't been trying too hard to sell it.

StingRay 01-15-2005 11:37 AM

Thanks everybody.

Slammed66 do you know an approximate price range for the one Scott has in Penhold?

Scott is that truck pretty much rust free? At that price it looks too good to be true. What powertrain does that truck have and how does it run?

gr8scott51 01-15-2005 12:14 PM

It drives fine. 350/350. It has a little rust, but not near as bad as mine was when I bought it. I've never seen a rust free truck in western Washington. I know it a long way from Saskatoon. I towed my daughters Mazda with it. It has great 16" tires and he'll throw in the 16.5 split rims (I think he still has them). Notice the custom upholstery?

StingRay 01-15-2005 12:33 PM

I only get the one shot of the truck from that link. No upholstery to see. Can you be a bit more specific on what a little rust is? I am really looking for a very clean truck and will pay accordingly. I need something with clean floors, decent corners ( a pin hole or two OK), clean cowl area, clean box and clean drip rail area. Needing rockers, a cab support two or doors isn't a problem. I have so much to work on now that another rust bucket project is just not in the cards. Gotta remember I have to be able to certify it coming into Saskatchewan and rust holes won't make past inspection.

Let's try again. It's supposed to be a slide show. I'd e-mail them to you, but I'm on dial-up. There's a little rust on the fenders behind the front wheels (probably full of crap), but it's really in pretty decent shape if you're looking for a work truck. The cab stays dry.

It's a Custom Camper, not a Camper Special. Sorry.

Deuce 01-15-2005 02:05 PM

I called Scotts and he wants $6500. It's a 70 CST. 402 auto air p/s p/b bench seat. Has a water leak in the cowl that will need to be addressed. He said 95% rust free. Sounds like a decent deal, if thats what your looking for.

StingRay 01-15-2005 04:34 PM

I alraedy talked to him too. He's sending me pics.

Thanks every body

stelth2002 01-15-2005 07:21 PM

Sting Ray I have a 69 that might if the bill. Ill send ya some info.

Slammed66 01-15-2005 08:02 PM

thats 70 is sweeeeeet . its really really clean cab corners and rockers anre mint It has a few bumps and bruises but inot bad the rust spot is on the inner cowl in the fassanger side foot well and its very very small , its biggest issue is the carb its not working very well , it had a edelbrock 1405 on it right now
the truck also has a brand new set of ceramic coated headers on it. if I get the pics soon I may post em on here is not scott will email you .

Just A Thought

Hi Stingray. I saw that truck of Scotts for sale last summer in the Auto Trader and figured its priced very reasonably. It surprises me (especialy in cash rich Alberta) that that big block a/c truck hasn't been snapped up yet.. My personal thought is I'd be cautious and make sure it was imported properly or Canada Customs can seize it from you.

HeavyD 01-15-2005 11:30 PM

It would have to be inspected, and many people I know in Alberta FEAR this for some reason. Maybe this is why it is sitting?

Just thinking more about that truck, if Scotts brought it into Canada under the company name, GST will have to be paid to Scotts as well as the PST here.

HeavyD 01-16-2005 01:37 AM

14%...ugh.

Deuce 01-16-2005 02:25 AM

You have to pay PST on a used truck??

Already Gone 01-16-2005 02:32 AM

Yep

In every Province in Canada except Alberta you pay provincial tax every time a vehicle changes hands. We only started to do it here in saskatchewan about 7 or 8 years ago. I'd like the old days back before we even had GST, when there was no tax on used vehicles in Saskatchewan, just like Alberta now on a private sale.

Deuce 01-16-2005 02:56 AM

If you bought it out of province, could you not register it as a gift from your uncle??
