'72 Blazer fuel tank capacity

What's the fuel tank capacity of a '72 Blazer? Was there more than one size? Prior owner installed a '72 Blazer fuel tank in my '67 and I don't wanna run it empty to figure it out.

It should be 21 gallons

Sounds about right. Gas gauge was almost down to 1/4 and it held 12.7 gallons this afternoon. Ya never know how accurate the gauge is, esp with a transplant tank. It's plastic, btw.

mine is 36. Aerotech, I think.

Not mine

I have a plastic replacement and it shrunk in it's mold......I only get about 19....go figure. It was so bad that the new sending unit wouldn't sit in the lock ring because the bottom of it hit the gas tank.....VERY frustrating!!!!

There is no way my tank is 21 gallons. I usually only get about 14 in it. Hum, I guess my gage could be way off.

My owners manual only lists one gas tank for 1970-23.5 gallons

JayDubBlazer 01-22-2005 02:23 AM

21 gallons is what the brochures list for all years

bouncytruck 01-22-2005 01:44 PM

I better check my sending unit!
