How much is this worth guys?

I found a 67 short step side with no motor or trany. The cab is is grate condition no rust anywhere. the bed is ok some rust along the fender well and the wood is gone. The front clip in complete with some small dings. No bumpers though. Im think of offering 350. Do you guys think thats to hight or low for my intial offer, and what do you guys think it might be worth.
Thanks
Adam

Do you have any pics, also what kind of options does it have? Sounds like a good price from what you have mentioned.

Always start low, you can always go up, but can't go down. I've seen trucks like this, in this area, go for about $3-$500
Good luck
BTW pics always help in posts like these :)

No pics

No I dont have any pics yet. I saw it today and stoped but no one was home. Im not sure about any thing else. When I find out more I will post it.

I would say that the best you could do is ask the person if they are willing to sell it. They might just practically give it to you to get rid of it. Maybe they will give you a price first that might be lower than your offer. Feel them out first and let them offer a price and then you can go from there.

At this point im just hoping they call me. Anyone know where a cheap 383 is

VetteVet 01-26-2005 08:06 PM

:gi: Make sure you can get a clear title unless you are just planning to part it out.

Do you mean, how expensive a 383 is?I ask this`cause it cost more to build a 383 than a standard size small block. It`s a custom engine. The cheapest kit to build one from a 350(on top of rebuild cost)is about $700.

You should try Speed-o-motive. The've been selling stroker kits for about 50 years or so. Cheap too.

495 for the kit I believe. $1400 for a complete long block...does that sound right. I guess I could stop being lazy and go get their catalog, but I think I want to continue being lazy.

Spencra has the right hagglin technique down. If it's been sittin a long time the owner just might GIVE it to ya to be rid of his eyesore. I have gotten 2 free Datsun Z's by just askin "What's the story on that Z?"
I'll second the be sure and get a title bit too. My worst screw up (and where I used up ALL of my lifetime luck allowance) was when I traded a 77Silverado longbed for a 75 shortstep. I demanded to keep my drive train. The guy said ok so I swapped em out. Went to finish up the paperwork and he had a lost title application in hand! I knew I was screwed. Shoulda swapped the motors back and ran. Didn't. Truck ended up being a stolen vehicle. Luckily, (not wishin anything bad on the ole boy) the po had died. His missus just wanted to see the truck one more time and then signed it over to me.

Oh. In answer to your question, I consider $500 and less a fair buy on a non-running, fairly complete parts car/truck. But offer even less.

meathead95 01-28-2005 04:50 PM
