Battery Hold Downs...
 

Guys, I am in need of a battery hold down. I am asking for any pics of yall's ways of holding the battery down in its spot. Oh by the way, the battery I have wont allow the use of the old bolt and rubber hold down. So I am going to have to figure something out. Thanks guys for any help...Later Mike

Anyone got any pics or anything of aftermarket battery hold downs? I've seen the ones in jegs and summit but those say they will only fit optima batteries or turbo start batteries. And I have a exide battery, so I don't know if it will fit or not...Thanks Mike

Yeah, the PO had used a rubber bungee strap on mine. I didn't change it, until Saturday when the cord somehow slipped off and the battery slid back, the positive side terminal contacted the jack (mounted on the fender well) and shorted out the whole deal. Luckily the battery terminal melted completely before staring the truck on fire.

I hooked a jumper cable from the remainder of the positive cable to the remainder of the terminal. Started right up and got me home!

man youre real lucky i lost an el camino that way once came home just in time to see the fire department putting the last drops of water on it whole thing was toast

Is this an AGM '6-pack' battery like an Optima?

My Optima red-tops came with a GM-style hold-down with a scallop out of the middle to fit the battery perfectly. Go back to where you bought them and ask - they probably have them.
