Help ?

:bowtie: OK here is my question .I have a 69 short bed with 350/350 trbo 2200 stall with a 411 gear and 32's on the rear end. At 65 I turn about 3300 to 3600
r's. what gear do you think it would take to get me down to about 2200 r's. Or should I go with a 700r trans.

To go from 3600 to 2200 RPM you would go from 4.11 to 2.50, ouch!

Well i used richmond's gearing calculator and it told me you should be at 2798rpm at 65. now that dont seem exactly right but heck whatever. I'd say if you wanna lower that highway rpm you'd need gearing about 3.03 or something numerically low like that. (it said 2068 with 3.03's) Anyway it's a 700rpm drop, much lower (numerically) gears are very hard to find if they are made at all for your application.

My suggestion is get a nice 700r4 that's built well. you wont suffer any performance losses and you'll get better mpg. Hope this helps some

thanks guys I was afarid that the 700r was the way to go just don't went to spend the $1100.00 for the 700 but looks like the only way to go

I don't know what the 32's are in diameter, but this is what I spin with a 28inch tall tire and 3.07 gears.
With a 2200 stall verter, you don't wanna go too low. You need to keep your cruise RPM over the rated stall. If you are always on the freeway, not too much trouble. If you do more in town driving, you need to stay rather conservitive.
