Do I have a rare option, pull knob throttle???

I have this pull knob in my 71 GMC Jimmy on the right side of the steering wheel near the bottom that when I pull it, it presses my gas pedal down to rev up the engine. Is this to aid in cold weather starts??? is it factory or dealer installed???

Not really rare but I doubt many Jimmys were optioned that way from the factory. Does it look like the other knobs on the dash panel? It should be mounted a couple inches below your wiper switch. Manual throttles were more common on bigger trucks with PTOs but they are nice for cold weather startups.

Mine has that too. I thought it was for four wheeling, so that you could clutch and brake and not have to worry about throttle. Since I only have two feet. Not sure if it's rare though.

I think it's the old style manual choke. A 69 I traded had one and there is also a choke delete plate that came with it.

The manual throttle was often used to bring the revs up when operating PTO equipment. My 69 K20 has one, but it is on the left side of the dash bezel below the headlight switch.
