Tranny problem
Having problems with my 89 Blazer I bought a few months back, when im on the gas anything more than lightly when the tranny shifts it seems to delay, so much when ur really on it you lean forward in ur seat instead of gettin thrown back like you should. Its done this since I bought it, hasnt got any worse but heres some more info.
Tranny was rebuilt 11/20/03(has 2 year warranty) Truck was back in the shop 12/5/03(230miles later) Problems:Metal in pan, remove transmission for inspection. Work done:(parts)misc. seals/gaskets, torque conv(it was replaced the first time, 230miles ago), and refilled fluid. What do you guys thinks goin on? I think maybe bad torque converter, or a shop the doesnt have a clue what they are doing. Thanks! |
liek it sticks between gears for longer than normal? If it has a 700R4, you can slightly rule out transmission weakness, GM fixed them in 87. Pull the pan for yourself and see what you find.

Yea, it "lags" between gears, not slip though, just like a delay. I checked the TV adjustment quick, seemed fine.
Sorry, its a 89 700R4. I just noticed tonight that when at very slow speeds you can barely feel the shifts(when i got the truck it shifted nice and hard), and when going into drive/reverse it used to shift into gear hard, now its really easy. Ill be dropping the pan this weekend to take a look. I might not even bother having the same shop mess with it, the warranty is under the PO's name so the shop prolly wont honor it. |
you can fix your lazy shifts with a basic shift kit and a low/reverse boost valve. This can be done with tranny installed. Your basic shift kit will also add life to the tranny.

Sounds like it might be the torque convertor but I don't know. Try a shift kit maybe and let us know how it looks if you get a chance to drop the pan this week end.
