Ricks pickup parts----on the board--was selling at $35 a set and they are great.

Mike Culpepper 03-04-2005 10:40 AM

I got a set from Ricks and they are way better than stock. Also don't have to change any wiring (relays etc.....), for chevy trucks at least(2 headlight set up), I'm not sure if they have a set up for GMC right now or not.
Mike.

he is right you dont have to change any wiring and they will work with 12ish volts, but if you do the relays they will have 14ish volts and be brighter

From Rick's. Work well.

I did mine yesterday. Had to get Euro spec lights for the Italian inspection. Went to the local salvage yard and bought two Hella H4 lights with bulbs in excellent shape for 10 Euros ($13). They have the small parking light bulb in them as well which is required here. Came off a Ford Transit van. Saw tons of old VW Golfs (Rabbit) that have them as well as old Alfa Romeos.

Installed and used the existing 3 prong plug, no adapters needed. I had to cut the headlight adjuster cut just a little for the parking light bulb as it was below the H4 bulb. Don't think that is an issue for the US version sold.

what color does the parking lamp have to be? quite a few of my friends were drilling holes in there hellas and putting colored leds and bulbs in there.

crustysarge 03-06-2005 03:09 PM

Has to be white (clear) here in Italy and I imagine all of Europe. I had to disconnect the parking light function on the turn signals. I just took the 1157 bulb and filed off the contact ans smothered with nail polish. Only turn signals can be yellow here.

The Euro Hellas have the bulb already. I saw a 2929 on it, small 4 watt clear bulb.

Has to be either amber or white. Light blue is also allowed, but depends on local ordinances.

I never get flashed with mine so, yeah man, get those lights aligned.:D Seriously, I'd be curious if that stops any high-beams-on flashing.

i had to do the same thing. at first i thought it was cool to get flashed when i had my lows on and then blind the hell out of them with my brights, but that got old and i started thinking about some one coming over in my lane cause they couldnt see so i pointed mine down some and i dont get flashed anymore, yet i still fill up the cabin of a lowered civic :D

I can't figure out why my lights are only 1/2 as bright as they used to be.

Any suggestions?

screamin_c102 03-07-2005 01:32 AM

Seriously though, Are Ricks lights good quality? I have been wanting to go over to a H4 setup with citylights for a while now.

68w/sbc406 03-07-2005 01:37 AM

check the voltage that your head lights are getting, you might need to do the relay thing. i am brand prepie so i will only use hellas. the are glass and they look good. plastic ones suck. i have no idea what ricks brand is or weather they are glass or plastic, but the people that have bought them from him are happy. what part of oregon are you from?

screamin_c102 03-07-2005 01:40 AM

Yoncalla, a little slice of heaven just below Eugene

Thanx for the info on the lights

71-longbed 03-07-2005 08:18 AM

ricks are glass ... i wouldnt want plastic
