Different. It's a little hard to tell from those pictures. I think it would be nice if the ridge was carried through to the "cut out". Slap and even coat of primer on there and it will be easier to see.

Wow, very original thinking! Pretty interesting look.
Nice metal work.
Like Bouncy said, get some primer on it and we'll go from there...

greasemonkey 03-06-2005 07:46 PM

I think it's cool, US Body makes an SS hood for these trucks, I think it's fiberglass.

I like the ideer on the cutout bouncy,,,I hope to get it welded this week and I prime it and pull it outside (if it ever gets nice round here)

FRENCHBLUE72 03-06-2005 09:11 PM

If you woul;d have asked me about that idea I am prety sure that I would have shot it down but it looks way good shoot some color on it and I bet it totally changes the look..

Of course it does bouncy, the tire is flat :hm:

You do have a sharp looking Jimmy there. Most peope go to the Chevy grill when switching to the 67/68 style hood, I like the GMC grill!

hey you know what?, it's difficult to imagine how it will look painted, but, i at least nobody else will have one like it. i say go with it.

Mine is actually the oilpan of a Continental 6-cylinder airplane engine. It comes up from under the hood. Someday, I plan to put the air cleaner in it and plate it off on the bottom so it sux in cool, fresh air. I'm also putting a tach in it.

That looks like pretty good metal work!

Just out of curiosity does any one have any pics of our trucks with a true "shaker" style hood intake?

a1gatorz 04-17-2005 12:46 PM

Looks good !Your truck has that aggressive stance, I been thinking of using 78 Z28 scoop with the correct matching air cleaner housing that seals tight for true cold air induction. Maybe tne maching fender vents. If anyone has these laying around by chance please let me know ,maybe we can work somthing out?a1gatorz@comcast.net

I have some pics some ware of a 68 with the fire bird shaker hood and the fender vents guy in PA was selling them I love the way it looked but didnt have the cash at the time.
