here is one of my better models. built about 5ish years ago. suspension articulated, complete steering represented like actual truck, shift lever & turnsignal lever added, solder exhaust, foil side trim, 36 inch swampers, scratch built tool box, frame cobbled from stepside and Ramcharger, what do ya think?

That is REALLY COOL! Amazing detail, and good scale on the lift/wheels/tires.

awww crap. I wanted to post some of the ones I have done if I ever get a dig. camera. I'd be too embarrassed to after seeing that to post any now....how in the hell........????

yeah, gotta few hours in it :lol: probably 6 months. i was in college at the time, so lots of free time. i'll see if i can get some pics of the inside and undercarrige. it is my best model. i have about 50, most in various stages of completion or distruction. i have a handful that i call "finished". if the weather cooperates, i'll get a group shot. thanks for your interest guys! i was pretty proud of that one when it was done.

How do you "foil" the sidetrim. I've heard of others doing this as well....how is it done? I'd like to try!

man so many questions , i wish i was a 10th that good , how did you do the foil thing , where in the he11 did you find swampers , or atleas they look like them anyway !! how did you do the movable suspension ect , just alot of how !!! lol

I'm in the middle of a 73 ford cobra. Next up is a plan to beat up a 66 olds 442 that didn't turn out right. ya know, rust, dented fenders, etc.

most guys use BareMetal foil found at better art stores. i was too cheap and used aluminum duct tape i had from some home repairs. get a 100 foot roll for about 8 bucks. used a toothpick and q-tip to get it in the corners. also got the swampers at a hobby shop. they're the real deal. they have lots of different types of tires. these were the largest i could find that looked like the real think. i do have some 44 inch ground hawgs from a truck puller model. they are OK, but two run "backwards" to see the letters.

oh, and the suspension isn't moveable, it's glued articulating. take it off the rock and the tires are still stuffed! :lol: looks kinda funny unless it's sitting on something.

www.modelexpress.net is one place i have bought some stuff. they're great people to do business with. they have swampers under "tires" and a whole lot more. prewired distributors, brake lines, aircleaners, diamond plate, not to mention lots of new and discountinued kits. they have the 68 GMC step right now, and the AMT 72 chev. for all these accessories, check under Model Car Garage.

were are u guys getting these lifted trucks????

building them. kit bashing is the technical term. on the 72 in the first frame of this tread i used 2 frames and leaf springs from 2 other models. then there are the aftermarket tires, Dale Earnhardt engine, scratchbuilt tool box... on and on. now that the weather is nice, i'll get some pics of some of my other "completed" models.

72 Custom Camper, you have some very nice units there! is that a Jeep M175 (or something like that) over by the jar? where did you find that? and i would be interested in detail shots of the (what appears to be) early lifted blazer with mud detail! put that camera to use! details! details! Please? :)
