a/c compressors...Ok to swap a Sanden 508 in place of a stock R4?
I want to swap a 454 into my '81 Silverado, but want to use different, wide-mount Alan Grove brackets for the A/C comp and alternator...the stock R4 radial compressor will not fit these brackets as they're designed for the Sanden 508 compressor.
Question I have is, besides having new a/c lines fabbed-up, is the Sanden compressor compatible with the rest of my stock a/c system? Thanks for the help, SC |
Try askin that question here: http://www.aircondition.com/wwwboard/

I'm pretty sure a Sanden will work with any typical r12 or r134 system made.

Yes ,Sanden works. You just need to buy the proper brackets.Mine are Allen Grove,$80.00

Cool. Yeah, I'm going with the Grove brackets as well.
Did you have the a/c lines made locally? SC |
Yes,a local A/C shop made the lines in the pic.
I have since obtained a tool so I can make my own lines. Here are the lines I made. http://images8.fotki.com/v108/photos...SCN1465-vi.jpg |

Well, all I'll say is due to a shipping error I paid MUCH less that what it's worth. It goes for about $500 bucks.

That's very nice. I really want one but can't currently justify it. I have set my sights on a tube bender for my next shop purchase.
