shipping question

I think I may have found a blazer that meets what I am looking for, but its in Washington State, and I am in Ann Arbor Michigan. Before I get too far into looking at this blazer I wanted to see if anyone has ever had to ship a vehicle, and if they recommended anyone in specific, and specifically what it cost you.

Thanks
-Lee

DOES NOT RUN WILL IT ROLL FREELY, CAN IT BE TRANSPORTED ON

The best advice I can give is to check with the Better Business Bureau and D.O.T. ( Department Of Transportation ) on any company you are considering using. Many shipping companys have multiple negitive claims against them. The cheapest is never the best, I found this out the hard way. Also find out exactly how insurance coverage will work, both yours and theirs. Make sure EVERY detail is worked out prior to payment and pick-up. It is common practice for companys to add charges for things once they have your vehicle. They hold it until they get what they want. Height, length, tire width, lift, 4x4, running good or not, ect. are all things that come up after pick-up. Have seller take alot of pictures prior to pick-up so you are able to asess any transfer damage ( they all deny any damage was during transit).
And finially, most online sites are only brokers, they set up the deal with independant drivers/movers. This makes it hard to hold anyone responsible for anything involving the transport. Once the broker gets their initial up front payment they ignore any emails or calls. I had no idea where my blazer was for over two weeks at one point. I was quoted an 8 day time frame and it actually took 27.
Do not use Cross Country Auto Transport.....crooks !

How about a one way bus ticket and a road trip?

I personally would never buy a vehicle sight unseen. I have spent a lot of money for airfare just to see a vehicle in person, and to return with out the vehicle. Pictures do nothing but tease the mind, and hide a lot of hidden damage or problems. If you can't afford a ticket to see the vehicle first hand, you can't afford the vehicle.

There is probably a board member near your Blazer. Ask a member to check it out before you buy it. It could save you a ton of money. I was ready to buy a 2wd Blazer in California and a member looked at it for me and found a lot of problems, it definitely saved me a lot of money and headaches.
