Steering coloum. Black or Red.... Help

I am having a really hard time with this. I am going with a Stock black steering wheel. So do I do the coloum gloss black like all the other brackets or red ? Help

Thanks,

Mario

I'd do it red like the dash. I painted mine the color of the dash and personally like them matching the dash color. It makes it blend in rather than stand out...

Go Black...with a black dash pad it would look out of place if the column was red IMO

I vote for red I think they look better when they match the dash. Pretty sure that's how it's done stock as well. The only way I would consider black is if the carpet and seats were black and nothing below the steering column would be red.

I also say red, since they came from the factory that way.

It depends on the color of your ashtray and glovebox door. If they are black, paint the column black too.

Red

If the steering wheel is black you should go with a black column. All factory tilts were black regardless of body color and it looks OK.

when i had my green wheel on my truck i never noticed the column, but since i have put a newer style black wheel, it just dont look right. so MHO the column should be the same color as the wheel, in this case balck

The ash tray and glove box door are red. I will have black carpet and door pannels.

I am so confused.... I agree that because I am using a black wheel It should be a black coloum. But I also like it matching the dash and body colour..........
Keep the opnions coming.

Thanks,

Mario - I have the best suggestion yet -

PRIMER IT IN BLACK AND INSTALL IT. If you don't like it, it's already primered and ready to be painted red!!!

Bingo.... exactly what I was going to suggest

I'd go red also (the black wheel will give nice contrast) Super lookin truck by the way!

skokie 03-24-2005 01:35 AM

Black. It will go great with a red dash and black bezel.

With a black steering wheel I'd paint the column black. With a Corvette style wheel I think the red column and adaptor would look best.

GreyHoundSteve 03-24-2005 10:36 AM

i vote red.

70 shorty 03-24-2005 09:42 PM

Black, no question. With black wheel, the colunmn should be black.

72MARIO 03-24-2005 09:51 PM

Well it looks like black is the colour. I will sand it down and rime it tommorow. I still have another 48 hours before paint so it could still change.

Thanks for the honest opnions.

I should correct myself. Black is not a colour.

No, but, to risk sounding cliche, "black is beautiful". :D

mr402 03-25-2005 01:45 AM

Just go with both! Let's see is it black w/red stripes or red w/black stripes? Sorry, I just couldn't resist that. I like the black primer idea too. Just be careful not to scratch it off while test fitting it.

mikeoj 03-25-2005 03:08 PM

Black is my vote

woodchip 03-25-2005 09:25 PM

paint one side red the other side black. Just kiding should be same color as dash.
