gaskets for ramorns

What kind does everyone use? just regular manifold gaskets?
Also what kind of flanges do you need to hook up to the exaust pipes with the corvette ramhorns?

I used thick header gaskets when I put mine on, I personally think they seal better, but that's jmho.

If they are in good shape you need no gasket at all between the head and manifold. Chevy never put one there. They will ussally leak just a little for a couple of days and then carbon will seal them up and they will be totaly leak free.

would it matter if I put a gasket in anyway?

No it won't hurt, I would find a place that sells fel-pro gaskets and get one for that applacation.

i would use normal metal manifold gaskets for a 62 or 3 vette, header oens are crappyt cheap paper, wil burn out anyways

use lead doughnut seal ont he collector flange for head pipes to connect to, get them at store too, are cheap

excellent question

I have not put my vette ramhorns on yet for the very same questions. I more concerned about connecting to the exhaust pipes. I've tried to find short flared pipes with the 3 hole bracket to bolt to the collector w/ a donut style gasket. The stock flared pipe and bracket that's stock is too small(truck ramhorns). Then I thought, get 2.5" header reducers and copper or aluminum collector gaskets and bolt them on and then let the muffler shop go from there.
My concern is I'd like to have the manifolds bolted on and as much done before I go to the muffler shop to have the 2.5" pipes bent through flowmasters and out behind the rear wheels. I can not imagine how much a shop would charge to replace the manifolds and run the exhaust.
As for bolting to the head, fel-pro will do for me.

Never have I used gaskets for ramhorns. Mr Gasket copper with O-ring only for headers, great seal

I used the waffle metal gaskets from Fel-Pro for manifolds. Whatever muffler shop hooks up your exhaust will be able to get flanges and donut gaskets to seal it up. You'll have to have a 2 1/2" pipe flared and attached to your existing exhaust or replace the whole thing.

i'm just using regular manifold gaskets on mine now, when it goes together this time, it won't have any gaskets....a good thing to check is for warpage, i have seen them leak when nothing was apparently wrong....mill off about .012" and they will seal like brand new.
