well after buying a lift for my 70 stepside i found the frame was not a 70. so after having to buy additional 73 front springs and grinding off what seemed like 1000 rivits to replace the rusted out front rear leaf spring pearches i got it done. clears the garage by 1/2 inch :metal: wanted to go to 35's but ill have to stay with 33's. i ordered a/e 589's in 15 x 12 tonight so ill post those pics next week .ok ill shut up now. heres a couple pics

Looks alot better. You did not get enough height to run 35" or there not in the budget?
Nice looking truck too.

what size tires are you going to run on those 15 x 12s? i dont know of anybody who makes a 33" tire wide enough for that.

What lift did you use?I though it was already lifted. Was it a body lift?My guess is,you`re using 33s so it`ll fit in the garage.Doesn`t someone make 14.50/33s?Congratulations on the project! That would be real easy to procrastinate.

XLR8N 04-14-2005 07:20 AM

yea the garage is the limiting factor :( the truck has 15 x 12 rims on it in the picture ) 33 x 12.50.15 are currently on it . they fit good now so i stayed with it. the lift was all blocks but the front was shifting so i went to springs. looks like 35's would go with no problem. I have more parts to throw this weekend so ill take a couple more pics. hopefully the rims will show up and i can get them on as well. thanks for the input-much appreciated!!!

I would have been scared to drive that, where did all that rust come from? The beach?

it was there when i bought it. i thought it was going to fall out.it feels solid now :metal:

i would seriously look into some narrower rims. 12.50" wide tires on 10" rims are really pushing the limits. a couple psi too low, and you'll be losing beads left and right. not a safe situation no matter where it occurs.

Hoods69BadBowTie 04-15-2005 01:52 PM

Yeah, I think mine are 9.5 if they make those. Seem a little bit to wide but maybe not.
Dam that would be pretty scary with all that rust. I did not see that picture the first time I looked at the pictures.

Well The Tires Went On The Rims Good But The Rims Wont Go On The Truck :whine: THEY JUST BARELY HIT ON THE CALIPER MOUNT IN THE FRONT SO I HAD TO DISMOUNT AND REMOUNT ALL THE OLD ONES AGAIN. NOW IM TORN AS TO GRIND THE CALIPER MOUNTS AND SEE IF I CAN MAKE IT WORK OR PAY SHIPPING BACK AND GO TO 16.5 RIMS BUT IT WILL COST A LOT EXTRA!!!! WITH TIRES AND ALL. IT LOOKED GOOD TO- THE HOOSIER TIRES LOOKED GOOD ON THE RIMS-DID NOT STRETCH THE TIRES AT ALL I WAS WORRIED . I THINK IT WILL WORK TILL I CAN GET 14.50 WIDE TIRES IF I CAN MAKE THE RIMS FIT. ANY INPUT???????
