Steering and ball joints...
1 Attachment(s)
Im taking apart my steering linkage to get it cleaned up and replace some of the joints. Im trying to take apart the short arm that is opposite the steering housing side... attached is a picture showing what im talking about. can you replace the ball joints in that? if so... whats a good way to remove them?
|
Just un- do the crown nuts and give it a tap with a hammer....that's how I did mine. You can buy a new idler arm (what you have circled) new tie rods and ball joints. I just bought all new TRW parts, just re-used the part below your circle.

alright, ive gotten the idler arm separated from the rest of the assembly, but now want to get those joints out of the arm and replace them... is that possible? or do i just need a completetly new idler arm?
|
I'm pretty sure you need a new idler arm.
|
hm... alright,
thanks for the help... |
you cant take it apart. you buy the whole thing, joints and all are made in the new one, about 40 bucks......rat
|
thanks
i checked it out at the local Murrays auto and they said 22 bucks... so not to shabby.. |
if you wind up buying all the steering parts at any point, I found them online a lot cheaper than the local auto store...
|
yah? online store? personal sale?
|
no, I mean I bought mine from an online auto parts store... i think it was here:
http://www.autopart.com/ btw, I read and heard that MOOG was a better brand than the alternatives. I bought MOOG. make sure you compare prices of the same brand. |
alright, thanks for the info
