Wanted - Factory Roll Bar Dimensions
For the members with a factory roll bar:
I would like to get dimensions from one of you so I can make a roll bar to factory specs. I need tube diameter, left-to-right dimension (outside to outside), floor-to-top dim, floor to gusset tube, floor location of hoop (and flange size), and floor location/flange of gusset tube. If anyone has 5 minutes to take some measurements, I would certainly appreciate it! Thanks! Paul |
I will try to get to the barn tonight and get you measurements. A fair chance I won't be able to tonight though.
|
TTT. I am also interested.
|
I got measurements for you last night but of course they didn't make it with me to work. I will do my best to put together a diagram and get the info posted tonight or tomorrow.
|
I would sure appreciate it!
Thank you for your trouble, Paul |
Edit - appears my rollbar is a Smitty bar, not a factory roll bar.
Don't laugh at my sketch. Where there are measurements at a bend I took the measurements where the bend begins. I am also attaching pics so you can get a better idea of what I was going from. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need something else. http://yuk0njack.com/70blazer/k5rollbarmeasurements.jpg http://yuk0njack.com70blazer/rollbar01.jpg http://yuk0njack.com/70blazer/rollbar02.jpg http://yuk0njack.com/70blazer/rollbar03.jpg |
Thank you, Yukon!
Just a couple of clarification questions: Is the plate 5" X 4"? Can't tell if that's a 5. Also, are the 61" and 46" dimensions from the inside or outside of the pipe? And the 33.5" and the 41.25" from the floor or plate? To the bottom or top of the pipe? Last question - what is the thickness of the plates? I would guess 1/2". Sorry for the questions, it's the engineer coming out in me. I do appreciate your time and trouble! Thanks again, Paul EDIT: I also would need the vertical dimension behind the wheel well. THANKS! |
The plate is 5" X 4"
The 61" dimension is from inside to inside. The 46" dimension is also from inside to inside. That dimension was difficult to measure as the wheel hump is an obstruction for a straight measurement. Definitely do not rely on it being exact. The 33.5" and the 41.25" are from the floor to the bottom pipe. I did not measure the thickness of the plate but it is definitely not 1/2". I will measure it for you but I'm pretty sure it is 1/4". I will also get the vertical dimension for you. I would definitely recommend you use these dimensions just as guides so you can fit the rollbar precisely to your K5. My glove box does not mention the rollbar though I think this is a factory rollbar. Others might be able to confirm that from my pictures. |
I could be wrong here, guys....but I thought the factory roll bar had the rear down tubes landing on the front of the wheel tubs.
Someone may confirm this, but Yukon's actually looks better (more stable) than the factory roll bar. I've been wrong before.... Davy |
I guess I'm like Davy...........I've been wrong lots before ;) ,but I think the stock rollbar bolted to the floor and the front of the wheelwell? :bowtie: (everybodys an expert! :) )
|
thats a smitty bar.
Donkey ir right about the way a stock bar go's in. |
Good to know which bar mine is. I'll still get the other dimensions you get.
Anybody have dimensions of the factory bar for Paul72? |
I will try to get the measurement off mine.
|
Paul the plates attaching to the floor appear to be 3/16" thick.
The one at the rear is 4 1/2" wide and 6 1/2" inches long. It has a bend in it that makes the flat part 4 1/2" and the portion that bends and attaches to the inner fender is 2". The rear of the bar is located 15 5/8" from the edge of where the body meets the tailgate measured from the back edge of the pipe. The front hoop is 7 3/8" from the edge of the raised floor measured to the front edge of the pipe. |
http://my pictures Thanks for the roll bar info I just pulled the hard top today and want to get one built.
|
Paul,
I bought my "factory" roll bar from Meathead95. I think I read, on this board, the were all dealer instaled. I got mine temp. instaled with some big sheetmetal screws till I have time to drill and get some ss bolts & nuts. I have some pics but need to e-mail them to some one that can post them for me. It might be sunday before I can get measurements. __________________ Joe Peters the HatGuy 72' K5 Highlander My Daily Driver |
HatGuy, you may want to consider grade 8 bolts for your rollbar. SS bolts are soft.
|
:) Thanks for the tip Jimmy71
|
Hat guy, Where can I buy this roll bar? Thanks bobshotrodblazer
|
You will have to ask Meathead95 about that.
I will post pics if I can email them to some one who knows how. |
