Shifter question ?
I need to remove my 4X4 (transfer case) shifter to install my carpet correctly. This is all new and I don`t want to remove more than needed or mess something up.
thanks, Bret |
Why can't you cut the hole and put the carpet over the shifter? From my experience, you need the carpet out to remove/install the shifter because you have to remove the transmission/t-case hump.

I just did mine. Has to be easier to do from above so unbolt your hump and then there will be a bolt going through the shifter to a bracket and a bolt from the bottom of the shifter to the linkage. Remove both of those and you ought to be able to leave the bracket in place. Put the hump back on and make your cut. I cut the jute material with a box blade (carefully) it is a little hard to cut do to its thickness.

Yeah, I figured that out once Yukon Jack posted. Just because I look dumb, doesn't mean I'm not!
