Factory Tach

Hey guys!

EDIT

I have sold the small fuel gauge, but I still have the tach for sale.

I am asking 80 bucks shipped to your door anywhere in Canada or the US.

What design (early or later lettering style) is the fuel gauge? Would you sell it seperately?

Any pics of the tach?
It is the factory one for the middle of the cluster right?

Here are some pics -- Sorry about the poor quality, my camera was just about to die, so I had to take them quick. The fuel gauge is simply dusty, the paint behind it is perfect less the little rivets on both gauges/ A dab of black paint on each of the little rivets would have these gauges looking brand new.

I am going to hook the tach up to my 89 tommorow to confirm its working abilities -- Just to make sure it isn't slow in responding etc.

Russell 04-26-2005 07:22 PM

How about 120 shipped? :)

Russell 04-27-2005 05:48 PM

Give me an offer, I don't need these, and I'm pretty leniant on prices :)

PS -- I tested the tach on my 89, it works extremely well :)

If I hadn't gotten my other one rescaled / had an overlay for 7k put on, I'd use this one instead. My other one's needle flies down to 1 and overshoots right away then wobbles back and forth for a couple seconds while this one goes straight to zero. I was a bit worried about it being sluggish, but she whipped right up to 3000 k when I revved the 89 up without delay :)

Russell 04-28-2005 11:06 PM

Anyone? How about 110 shipped! If I can't get that, its goin to ebay!

I'll post this again....do you want to sell the fuel gauge seperately?

TTT :)

I found a tach bezel I can include. It does not have a printed circuit sheet though. I can toss in a volt gauge, and temp gauge with it :)

Russell 05-12-2005 01:47 AM

How about 85 US shipped? Anyone need a good working tach?

bigarmzz 05-12-2005 03:47 AM

so would this work on my 87? if so where would it go?...that sounds like a dumb question, but i'm really not sure

i'd like to have it....if it would work for my application.....would it?

I plugged the tach into my truck, and when I put into it, it zeroed out properly. However, I do not have an engine in the truck, so I cannot test it on an engine, unless someone can tell me how I would hook it up to my 89's small cap HEI.

Same goes with the fuel gauge, hooking it up either way pegs it to the left or the right.

Therefor, I assume these are good working gauges :)

I am asking 150 shipped anywhere into the US / Canada :)

Sorry, I do not have the printed circuit sheet, or the pod housing. The housing was missing the far left tab, and the top left tab for mounting it, and would not sit nicely in the cab as far as I am aware. The printed circuit sheet was pretty rough as well. If you want them included, I can do so for an extra 10 bucks for the increased shipping size.

I cannot remember, do the 87 trucks have an electric speedo? Cause that could cause you some difficulty...

This tach replaces the big fuel gauge, and the fuel gauge is moved down to the bottom-left most hole for the small gauges. You'd need to run three wires to make the tach work, one that goes to the tach terminal on the HEI, one that runs to 12 volts on crank and run, and one to ground.

If you are able to do some electrical work and have a die grinder you can easily modify most bezels to accept the fuel gauge and the tach without having the wiring on the back. You just need to run some wires from the fuel gauge's poles straight to the wiring harness like you would with the tach.

I am using a non-tach housing for my truck becuase the tach housing I originally got was a peice of junk, it isn't the prettiest job cause I used a pair of cutting pliers to cut the backing out, but it was quite easy to do overall.

bigarmzz 05-12-2005 11:00 AM

i was hoping it was just a "plug in" kinda deal.....

might be alittle too involved for my lazy ass

Yeah, with the proper bezel and rear wiring, it would definitely be a plug her in and go deal, but the bezels I have, and the wiring I have are all not so hot =/

slingin mud 05-14-2005 04:35 PM

do you still have the tach and fuel gauge

Russell 05-14-2005 06:57 PM

Just the tach, I already sold the fuel gauge :)

67ChevyC10Stepside 05-17-2005 12:51 AM
