Headers

I have been thinking about purchasing some flowtech afterburner headers, do they fit good? What brand of headers do you recommend if not the flowtechs?

I don't know if an 82 is the same (spacewise) as an 87. I bought the standard issue black painted flowtechs and the went on without a hitch. Easiest header install to date.

anyone else have an opinion on headers

on the last 87 i built, i used the dynomax ceramic coated ones....they were $239 from summit, and the finish never tarnished at all..and were very easy to install.....had the truck 6 months, and maybe put somewhere around 10k miles on these....

here's a pic...

the cheaper headers (under$100), always seem to turn to sh*t in just a month or so.....(get rusty lookin fast)...

Hey bigarmzz, nice stance. I too love the Dynomax headers. Just wish I got the ceramic coated as you did.

that truck is badass!! I as well am looking into headers and am thinking of going with the dynomax. Maybe going straight out the back with my exhaust. Although mine is a Blazer.

My standerd headman 1 5/8" with 3" collector headers have been threw hell and back and still work perfect. 5yrs sitting outside? Just a little rust here and there. Banged, bent and thrown around by a 16yr old just learning to work on vehicles? No problem. Im a headman man from now on....

I like Hooker Headers, have them on two motor but they came with them. Really like the ceramic coated ones that came on my '88, little dirty but very easy clean up. Got the cheaper ones on my donor '74 350 there pretty damn rusty but still useable.

cochino12, those sandersons are center dumps arent they???

i didnt think those would work in our trucks due to the motor mounts...?? :(

TBI- notice the angle of the front drivers side intake bolts.

That is one clean engine compartment. Looks like you could eat in there. Show ready. Nice job cochino12.

Summit racing is selling ceramic coated headers identical to the dynomax ones for $200 here: coated.

They also have uncoated ones here: uncoated for 86.50. I've had a set of the uncoated ones on my 84 K10 since September of 96. They are just now getting so the collectors won't seal because the collector retainer ring is warped. (it's pinched together at the bolts and not tight between them). I've bought two more sets if that tells you what I think about the value...

Oh yeah, those are for a small block. 2wd or 4wd.
