Awesome truck for the price!!!!! Check it out...

Does anyone recongnize this truck....I see he STOLE my idea of a 7 foot bed....that's what I'm doing to mine. But you'd think he would be looking for more money for what this truck looks like. 11 grand?!?!?!

Personally, I think it's a lil high, JMHO, if it had A/C it would help, and is
a 7ft bed rare? doesn't sound right, wish they had pic's of the glovebox.

iluvmy72 05-19-2005 04:54 PM

personally I don't believe the man where he says factory 7 foot bed. However I can see the beauty of the custom mod I am working on myself. Is A/C all that important?

Bamm 05-19-2005 05:02 PM

Uh-oh the old :bsf: detector just went off. I'm far from someone who knows it all (just ask my wife) but I have NEVER even heard of a 7 foot bed option. Sorry, gotta hit him with an atomic :floss: . ........Jerry

NO, BUT WHEN YOU PASS 10K, YES IMHO ;)

Huskerboy2 05-19-2005 05:23 PM

I think $11K is really high for that. JMHO.

'70_402 05-19-2005 05:53 PM

I like how he tries to play off that the bed is a factory option. The only reason that it is rare is because he hand made it.

screamin_c102 05-19-2005 06:05 PM

This is what kills me...

" This is a rare truck, we have not seen many of these factory 7 foot beds; I believe they are referred to as shortbed longhorns or something like that."

:bs: He probably came up with that one on the crapper one morning

krue 05-19-2005 06:26 PM

Would it be a short horn or a bed long?:haha:
E-mailed them to call BS, wonder what they will say.

68w/sbc406 05-19-2005 07:41 PM

i dont think i would cut a fuel door into the side of my 'rare shorthorn'

PICKMUP 05-19-2005 11:59 PM

one-of-a-kind

Sometimes when you build a ooak, you are the only one that likes it. That's going to be a tough sale.

My favorite part is the confidence in his writing---- "or something like that"

barn9 05-20-2005 06:48 AM

I knew I shouldn't have drank that last beer, now I'm seeing strange things! ;)

Can't say that I have ever seen one of those "rare" beds before, LOL!

i think it looks like a nice truck, and it would be kinda cool to have a short bed, then the 'shornhorn', and a long bed. but i wouldnt go around saying it is a factory option unless the glove box said 120 inches or something like that

Ummm............... that guy is on Crack.

CPNE 05-20-2005 10:32 AM

More proof for the following 2 items from Boz-All's Rules Of the Universe:

1. There is nothing new under the sun
2. If you build it, they may not come.

Interesting truck, even better line of :bs:

Shane 05-20-2005 10:54 AM

"Shortbed Longhorn" = Sales and Marketing, boys .... Sales and Marketing.

krue 05-20-2005 02:58 PM

I received a reply from the guy...here's what he said.
please do some research because this truck with a 7ft bed is referred to a
> Shortbed Longhorn or Longhorn Shortbed... I have seen one other before...

Here's my reply
I belong to one of the biggest messageboards on the internet devoted to
67-72 Chevy trucks. Not one of the thousands of members there has heard of
your 7 foot bed. You need to do some research and get your facts straight
before advertising something as "factory".
BTW the members of the board have seen your ad and have gotten a good laugh.
Thanks
PS if you would like to learn about GM trucks come on over

Whaddaya think, will he join the party?:haha:

Ya what he said!!!

WE BAD, WE BAD....YOU KNOW IT :metal:

68w/sbc406 05-20-2005 07:39 PM

ask him to look at the wheel base numbers on the option sheet. it probably still says 127 inches (lwb)

GMC Jim 05-20-2005 08:17 PM

Query about the shorty longhorn or whatever he calls it. I asked him about the 7 ft bed and this is his reply.............

do some research and you will see that they made very few 7 foot bed trucks;
I think they called them shortbed longhorns or longhorn shortbeds, one or
the other.... the actual wheelbase is shorter than a longbed and longer
than a shortbed.

screamin_c102 05-20-2005 08:38 PM

I just can't see GM re-tooling for a special length bed and frame, only to offer them in,apparently, very small numbers.

I dont know for sure but I believe the Longhorns used a bolt in extension in the front of the bed and the frame was used on other production vehicles as well.
(rambling)

My point is that, although relatively rare, Longhorns were produced in large numbers, yet they did not receive longhorn specific parts other than easily produced badging and the bed filler.

This guy would have you believe that GM tooled up for this truck, and only produced a hand full.

What I can see, is somebody not realizing how much and where to cut the frame to make a SWB, then havng to mod a long box to fit his f@#$ up.

Whatever

Pilgrim 05-20-2005 10:13 PM

My restoration packages fail to mention a 7 foot bed option. Maybe Chevy pooched it... right.

iluvmy72 05-22-2005 01:54 AM

Actualy I know hoe he did it. Because I'm doing the same to mine. All you need is a standard short bed truck.....cut the rear half off directly in the center of the wheel well and add in the long bed section. Everything lines up just right. I'm only doing it because I think the long beds were too long and the short beds were too short. I want this to be for me and not to lie to people and say "yeah....Chevy did this rare 7 foot bed and I have one"....I don't ever plan to sell it either.
