Well all thats left is to sew on the fabric for the back seat and shes ready for sale.. Recently I installed the carpet kit and today I just got the exhaust welded up. The 283's got dual 2 1/2 inch pipe coming outta ram horns. Today was the first day I got to actully hear my engine run lol that thing was so loud with only the ram horns on it, thought for sure I'd get pulled over driving it across town to get it to the muffler shop... I'm hoping to get at least $7000 for it what do you think? Think I'll try Ebay? Heres some pics....

Looks nice. $7K sounds about right, maybe a little more. Why are you selling it?

Gyva 05-22-2005 08:42 PM

I'm only allowed to have 2 at a time. Girfriend says I need to go to old trucks annonomus.... Just got back from a cruise around town in it. Got everything dialed in where it purrs at idle and starts up with a flick of a key turn.... Makes me wonder if I should sell it, but had I had intentions of keeping it I would have painted it a different color. I just had to do something different (give the girls something to sport around lol).... I will let you guys know when I put it on EBAY so we can watch what it goes for. Kinda shruggin my shoulders but I'm thinkin I'll put a $9000 BUY IT NOW option on it just to see what happens. I have no doubts it would make the journey accross the country with no problems but the gas bill.... Anybody got a project Blazer in the Idaho area??? under $1000 might be awhile before I can make room for it, got a 27 studebaker taking this ones place.... Need to quit my job to many projects...

Around 7k is what I would expect to pay for that if I was shopping for one ;)

Great looking truck, but the color kills me! I just don't think puprple is right on these trucks.

And why a 283 when a 350 would have been stock?

because when I got the truck it had sat in a farmers field with the carb off and hood open for about 10 years and water had found its way into the engine. Straight water poured out of the drain plug for about 2 minutes no kidding... so out came the frozen 4 bolt 350 and in went a 283 that I got for free out of a 60's van, fingers crossed it was a good motor and didn't smoke... I got lucky the motor runs very well, no mis firing or smoke to be seen. I did have a very tricky time bolting up the fron of the motor with no threaded holes in the 283 heads.. I didn't know they didn't cast'em with threads till I go this motor. BUt everythings solid and good to go now... That little 283 is a screamer. I had my doubts putting the 4bbl carb on it (had 2 bbl) but it drinks it all just fine... I did however rebuild the entire electrical system so maybe the healthy spark is whats burning the extra fuel... I never claimed the truck to be stock, as I also have a later model 12 bolt rear end in it since the old one was blown...

Looks like a nice resto and you should get plenty of $$ outta it..

Gyva 05-28-2005 11:15 PM

Yes Frenchblue72 I hope so, as money made from this is whats paying for my shop that I'm building. 32x24x24 with bonus room/vaulted trusses, so I can sit and look at my projects though the glass lol. I build these things to make some extra cash on the side and I love doing it anyways but here in Idaho I can only build in the spring and summer time since the weather gets so cold in the winter. The sale of this will insure many many more get saved from the clutches of the crusher..... Still waiting for the back seat to get covered..
