dropping question
I finally got all four tires the same size so I was checking ride height to see how much to drop it. That's when I noticed the front fender wells openings are curved up higher than the rears so do I want to literally level the truck (2" front ,3" rear) or do I drop it so the tires are equal distances from the top of the fender well openings? I will be cutting coils due to this being a "budget" drop......meaning no money involved unless I cut too many coils.

it's all a matter of personal preference... It's your truck, you do what looks good to you!
Personally, I like the wheelwells being filled evenly, creates just the right amount of rake... JMO |
Keep in mind that you can't cut rear coils. The coil is tapered at the top and bottom where it bolts in place. I wasn't sure if you were aware of that or not but I figured I'd let you know just in case. Fronts can be cut with no problems. I've seen some guys heat their rear coils but I wouldn't suggest that either. If you only need 3" you might look into using blocks instead. Just my .02

does the panhard bar have to be made adjustable when you drop the rear? I was using a cable hoist ran under the rear end and connected to the fram above it to pull the truck down to get an idea of the drop I want. It would only go about 2" and stopped but the snubbers were NOT bottomed out, so I figured the panhard bar was stopping it. any ideas? :confused:
Could the rear coils be cut and then bend the end back into the curl for mounting? |
