A.I.R. pipes

I read this forum all the time but rarely post. I am going to tackle the rusted right hand A.I.R. pipe this weekend. I have a smog test date with California next month. Any words of wisdom for this job would sure be appreciated. The factory manual describes that the manifold needs to be removed before the injector pipes are removed. Is this needed? Thanks...CD.

Update

The passenger side manifold does not need to be removed to take the AIR pipe off. Also, I was able to get the pipe back on without removing the manifold, but it was difficult. It may be much easier to put the AIR tube on without the manifold on the vehicle. I only replaced the right side and I think it would be very difficult to replace the left side without removing the manifold. Also, one of the wire bits for a dremel tool cleaned the threads very nicely which was great because these threads cannot be tapped.
