Doors don't close right...

Both the doors on my '79 won't close unless I slam them *REALLY* hard...that can't possibly be good for them. What do I need to adjust in order to fix them? I remember seeing a thread about this a while ago, but of course I can't search for it...

Probally two things that are wrong with it -- The strikers and the hinges.

Strikers are easy to adjust, just loosen them up, and move them around as needed :)

Hinges will be worn out, and will need to be replaced. If I remember correctly they cannot easily be rebuilt...

New strikers are about 8 or 9 dollars last time I checked. Can be had at local parts stores.

like 76 bonanza said, you need the plastic thingy's......there only $3 at advance there in the help section....there almost always long gone on most of these trucks...

guarantee ya, that will do the trick

On my strikers I used a piece of rubber hose. If you lived close I would help with your doors for free. And that goes for the people that live Arizona too. Matt

What, specifically, did you use the rubber hose for?

Is there a technical name for this "plastic thingy" that I can ask for at the parts store? :)

On the striker I removed the big washer and put on a piece of ( I think ) 5/8 heater hose about 1 inch long. Now I got to say this I am very che ( thrifty ) I make what I have work. And I work around car all day I get things done, to redo my own truck and replace every thing would get very costly and it adds up quick so any thing to save a buck or 2 or 3. Matt
