73 Chevy C-10 350 4-Speed

Get the truck tuned up and running properly first. Then get your engine breathing better. Headers and exhaust should be first. Then start messing with the induction, air filter, carb and manifold, if you want too.

A simple head and cam change will net you some more power, but not nearly as much if you do the above first. Plus, they're great ways to get cheap power. Your engine is simply a big air pump, the more air you can get in and out, the more power it will produce.

get a holley that would help some

gldevall 05-31-2005 10:20 PM

What's you budget? Do what Ocbaud did and for $1500 get the Holley Systemax with heads. That will put you up around 400 HP, at the FW. What gears are in the 12 bolt? Posi?

and along with that Holley, you get the joy of tuning it every time the temp changes. put a good QJet on it, or a good rebuild on the one that's on there. tune it once, and forget about it. not to mention the improved power throughout the powerband, and the superior milage. Holleys are for race cars.

notice the one who mentioned it is in Louisiana where the temp drops to maybe 50 during the winter...
if it gets any colder, then a Qjet or Edelbrock is definately better for everyday use

Ya, I got posi but I'm not sure the exact gears. I runnin 2800rpm at 120KM.

gldevall 06-01-2005 12:56 PM

Looks like you have 3.07 gears. A gear swap would help. Go to a 3.42 or a 3.73. You could also go with what I have.

Edelbrock Performer EPS manifold $130
Edel 600 carb $275
Proform HEI distributor $150
Comp Cam 268H w/pushrods $200

That should wake it up a lot.

Nice stuff man. Sounds like a good Idea. I'll post some pics of my truck soon..
