I need some yalls Guage Cluster pics!!
 

Well, Here in a few weeks the new 383 and the T-$00 shall be sitting on my frame ready for start. Almost done with brakes and I am gonig to start building my Guage Cluster b/c well I get bored easy and new sometihng to work on. I really enjoy the Auto Meter Set ups some of yall have. And i want my father to see some pics of them. So post of any kind or sort of Cluster you have..anything aftermarket or even stock. I dont care if there pink I wanna see'em!! Thx for hte help guys and ill be posting some pics soon when the engine and tranny on!!

What are the details on that 7000 rpm tach and what did it cost ? Frank

i'd like a setup like how russel has for my burb, right now it has the gas gauge where his tach is and a battery dummy light where his gas gauge is.

(Looks like someone likes Coke, my desk has Mt Dew cans all over)

I had the board member Neocramcer or however you spell it give it a new overlay, and a recalibration to 7 k. It has a slightly different luster than the rest of the factory gauges, but unless you really know these trucks you'd never even notice :)

You'd have to PM him for more details :) If you need a tach, I've got a spare one sitting around here doing nothing that I'd be willing to sell. Works great!

Also, I found it fairly easy to convert the old bezel over to a tach bezel. Just need to cut a hole in the back of the housing to fit the plug for the tach through, and do the same for the fuel gauge. Simply run the wires from the fuel gauge out directly to the wiring harness.

However, if you have an idiot light where the factory fuel gauge is suppost to go, you will not be able to convert that bezel over. The idiot light bezels did not have any mounting bosses for the screws that hold the fuel gauge down.

I plan to get rid of my housing and find a housing that has provisions for a mechanical oil pressure gauge, and and convert it to the tach, along with an amp to volt conversion (just swap my circuit sheets around) All my gauges work awesome except for that goofy oil pressure gauge, it is just all over the board all the time.

Russell, I just moved the circuit board out of the way with a razor blade and drilled a hole for my mechanical oil pressure gauge. I used a 79 cluster and housing on my 77, then repinned the wiring harness accordingly.

i have a tach cluster from a 74,and was wondering if i could just use the tach and (fuel gauge wired seperate) in my 87 cluster,because i have to use my speedo for the speed buffer.

Should be a bolt in jobber, less cutting for the fuel gauge and tach / wiring :)

Thanks for the info Russell . I actually have about 5 tach dash assemblies right now in various conditions. I have a couple of 77's , one from a 1980 Dually that had a 454 auto , and a couple of others that are possibly useable or parts . I am going to sell the 1980 assembly soon since I cant use it in my 77 . I wish I could since the gauges have more color to them . The 1980 unit is the only one I have with the firewall mounted filter still attached to the distributor wiring . I wonder if I will need that for my 77 ? The others I will wait until I know I have everything I need for mine and then sell the leftovers . I had another one that I gave to another board member about a year ago . I might be interested in having one of mine recalibrated . Frank

NeCrOmAnCeR It should be a crime for one man to possess that much knowledge about a truck tachometer . With that said , what would it cost the less intelligent (ME) to have that done and how long does it take ? Frank

BTW, I very much like the 7k tach, if I was to do anything different though, I'd have made the overlay a bit larger. If you look at it from the right angle, you can see the edge. Otherwise it is seriously awesome, even put down the little rivets on the overlay, lol :D

Thanks Russell, yeh I am making them larger. You can see the edge on mine as well. I have also been trying to find a good finish, mine seems a little glossy.
