Give me your opinion

I want opinions, alot of them.

I'm seriously considering putting a Tremec TKO 5-speed tranny from Keisler Engineering in my truck. Everyone I talk to tells me I'm nuts or stupid. I'm running a TH350 now.

I want to bang my own gears. The A/T is OK with the shift kit, but I want more gears and I think the truck would be alot more fun with a manual.

I can also get the shifter to mount in the location where my Lokar shifter is now. I can also get a shifter that stands tall enough that it will be comfortable to drive.

I know I should build the truck the way I want it because it is mine, but like I said, everyone tells me I'm crazy to want a manual tranny.

Please give me your .02

I'd love to have a 5 speed in my truck too. I say go for it. Then come back with pictures!!

I say you'd only be crazy not to go for a Tremec T-56 like I have. Why settle for a 5 speed when you could have a 6 speed. Not to mention that the T56 is ALOT stronger than the TKO's.

Go for it. I am a clutch freck myself, but have a TH350 because I would not know how to go about doing the swap much less the $$.

is crazylonghorn around..he just swappedout a 6 speed. Maybe you can get a deal

manual rules (even though I only have a 3pd) - besides, it keeps wives and girlfriends out of the drivers seat. ;)

Go with the stick and then do a detailed picture list. :metal:

I say go for it. I hate when driving is just stomping on the gas and then hitting the brakes. That's ok for the track, perhaps, but not on the street since I don't race my burbs.

I saved a couple 5/6-speed tranny swap threads:

5-speed clicky
6-speed linky

I say go for it.....I would prefer the 6 spd myself if you are going through all the trouble..... :metal:

Manual trans rules! The TH350 trans sucks huh? What about a Muncie 4spd?

cojnit 06-06-2005 01:29 AM

can help you save brakes too! :metal:

Why did crazy longhorn change. He sounded like he loved that 6 speed he had. I thought I remembered him changing the diff gears to 373 or something for better milage.

DO the Manuel tranny man! Slaming your own gears is the way to go! This summer im going to be putting a 5 spped in my 64 half ton longbed with a built 282.
