no more scraping- exhaust outside of frame
 

Just thought I'd share these pics for the people with lowered trucks. I trimmed a little from the inner fenders and back of the cab, then had the exhaust shop run the exhaust outside of the framerails and tucked up as high as possible. It is now higher than the bottom of the frame and is not visible from the side except at the exit. It steps up to 2 1/4" just forward of the generic turbo mufflers. It could be made to exit through the bedside very easily, and will make tranny removal very convenient, too. I have the original ramshorns and side exhaust, so I know this is not for everyone, but thought it might give someone out there a new idea.

does it get the cab floor hot ?

i was woundering about if it would get the floor hot too

That show mine were run long ago made it very easy to work on the tranny and other part's in the area.. Don't remember the floor getting any hotter than if it was ran inside the frame rail's???

What about the droning noise in the cab??? :hmm:

The mufflers are in the same place as they were on the inside of the rails, just 2 inches closer to the floor. There is still quite a bit of space above the mufflers, because they are mounted to the cab substructure. The floor doesn't get hot on the inside, even after driving 40 minutes- I have a lot of insulation, though. There is no noise from the mufflers being under the outside of the cab, either. Actually, it was louder before, when my mufflers(skidplates) had holes worn in them. Now, the only noise is coming from where it is supposed to- the exhaust tips.

They are ran the same way on my lowered suburban.Except they exit at the rear.The floor doesn't get any hotter than it did stock.
