72' 4x4 shock question
I have a 72 4x4 with a 4 inch lift and i need new shocks. I dont do alot of hardcore off roading and I would enjoy a little smoother ride. What shocks have you had success with and what are the prices.

I just purchased a set of Doetsch for my 72 K10 (no lift) cost was about $160 for all four....I am waiting for UPS to drop them off....I will install as soon as they arrive and give you a report on the ride. I have heard very positive things about Doetsch.....I will keep you updated.....Paul

I would go with the Edelbrock IAS twin tube design for a 73 and up truck with 4" lift. Very smooth ride on and off the road~!

Yeah i was looking into those edelbrocks, but i wassnt sure that the 73+ would fit. Thanks for the input.

They ROCK. I have a set for stock height and they are so smooth.

I have decided that im going to get the Bilstein 5150's, but i dont know what size. I just measure the current shocks, unloaded and on level ground, and the fronts were 20" and the rear 22" (from eye to eye). Can one of you suspension guru's help me pick a length of shock to get.
(K20 4inch susp. lift with 35's) Travel Valving Extended Collapsed 6.48" 255/70 18.78 12.30 8.33" 255/70 22.50 14.17 10.02" 170/60 25.91 15.89 10.02" 255/70 25.91 15.89 11.50" 170/60 27.99 16.50 11.93" 170/60 29.70 17.78 11.93" 255/70 29.70 17.78 14.53" 170/60 34.90 20.37 14.53" 255/70 34.90 20.37 |
When I had 4" springs, I ran shock that were about 22" long in the front and 25" long in the back and the compressed and extended lengths were perfect for me.

Just ask for socks for your application,`72 K/20 4"lift.
