what would the gear be in my 78 burb?
it has a 14 bolt, full floater. How can i identify the gear that it has. Is there a number some where? I don't want to take the diff cover off and count.

Check inside your glove box for the parts i.d. label,it should be right on there,if not when your under the truck, looking back to the rear toward the gas tank, from in front of the tires...the passenger axle tube to the left of the pumpkin will have some #'s and a few letters stamped on it,toward the front, some are even on top,in that general area, take a wire brush and look for them,The easy way is pull the cover ,it probally needs gear oil changed anyway?Hope this :help: 's Erick

it helped, i know the glove box thing is gone. I got an 87 3/4 ton and 78 3/4 burb, both 4x4. The 78 seems to be geared way lower that the 87. Did any of the burbs come with a limited slip?
|
Yes alot of them did..usally there is a tag on the rear cover bolts or the fill plug has a tag on it...My 80 3/4 ton has a full floater with locker in it...

does the limited slip have any value to it? (Selling). My dad has the burb and says it has it. I just want to verify that it does. We may be parting the rest of it out. The glove box is gone already. lol
