Truck Audio Advice
 

I am new to this board and wanted to know what kind of audio systems you have in your trucks, where you put your speakers, what sizes and what kind.
I have two 4" speakers in the factory 4x10 hole and two 6x9's mounted in the rear cab corners. I also have a 10" sub behind the seat. Where else have you guys mounted subs? Has anyone welded in a box in the floor under the seat?
I'd appreciate any input.

I have my amp under the seats. 2-6X9's in the doors (holes were allready in doors) and 2 8" subs behind the seats. Works out great. I just need a bigger amp. Do u have any pics of your truck. I have a 76 K15 Sierra Classic. I would love to see your truck

and i got 2 memphis pr 6x9's thats all the high end i will ever need

Looks like a pretty thumpin setup, but I am trying to keep as much room behind my seat since I am 6'5".
Do you like your Memphis amp?

well im 6'1 230 and i put honda seats so that i can have much room as possible for the 12's i love the memphis amp i had a kicker kx600.1 on the same setup and it didnt make them hit as hard as i wanted but the 1000d is only runnin 2 ohms but i will be runnin at 1 ohm soon when i get my 2 dvc memphis 15s my amp sits under a console and has never gotten hot or any problems but i want to take a step up and get me a mempheis belle which is a high end amp and sub amp all in one

I had a memphis amp in my daily driver... 2000 s10 ... the amp really rocked... NEVER overheated... is small and easy to hide away... and puts out true power... the main thing on the d class amps is the efficiency... any amp can claim tons of power, but, how much power is lost as heat and how much is getting to the subs?!?! w/ the memphis 1000d, its like 90% to the subs! :metal:

Two Pioneer 6x9s mounted in the door, Pioneer head unit in the dash, and I'm buying another set of 6x9s from my buddy to put in the cab corners.

bodydropped, How did you install those seats?.. did you need special rails?.. I would to drop some new Honda buckets into my truck.. Thanks..

My audio setup consists of:
2 way 6.5" Alpine door speakers,
10" sub behind the middle of the seat ( closed box )
2 6x9's behind the seat in each corner.

I am planning on putting in buckets like bodydroped, and building my 10" sub into a custom center console in the future.

72 chevy has

-2 5X7's in cab corners, wanting to upgrade to 6X9's some day, i left room for 6X9's when i mounted the 5X7's
-2 6-1/2" rounds for doors
-12 inch sub in box behind bench seat
-rockford fosgate 1500 watt amp under seat (too much but i got a huge deal) i have it bridged to my single 12 for 500 watt rms, even though the sub runs at 300, 500 max. i ran a switch on the dash to the "rem" on the amp so i can turn off the amp, which turns off the sub if i choose.
-im thinking about buying some bass shakers. i might get up to 6 because they only run at 10-15 watts and i can mount them under and to the back of the bench and instead of producing sound, they shake so it's more thump in tight places. better than buying alot of 8 inch subs for kicking in tight places.
-jvc cd receiver with detachable faceplate. next to basic

im in the process of redoing my interior and am installing a sony head unit a lightening audio 1000w amp 2 6x9 in the doors 2 6x9 in cab corners and 2 12" subs behind buckets seats was also considering a speaker setup overhead somehow but that will be later lol

4 12's...What a big waste, theres not enough air space for 4 12's i runing 2 10's with a escalade seat

i could care less about what ppl say about 4 12s but i want to see ur spl (sound pressure level) or thump off score because i got the one of the best systems built behind a seat im hittin 149's at dash and im proud of it but ive seen 6 10s behind a seat in a square body and it would hit hard and the seats we welded nuts to the floor pan for the outside rail and the inside we made a riser for them all in all it took a day to install

bodydropped, K-Dubb does have a point...Unless you cut through into the bed there is no way a wedge box behind a regular cab truck seat can suppourt four twelves. And yes your SPL maybe high now but you would have even higher numbers if you rethought your enclosure so your not starving your subs. K-Dubb do you have a picture of your setup??
